The State of Homelessness in America

America is THE most powerful and economically stable country in the world. So, why are there so many homeless people roaming the streets of the biggest cities, such as Washington DC, New York City, and certain cities in California? Do these people deserve what is happenning to them or should the politicians of America do something to put an end to this growing problem? Washington DC, which is considered to be the capital of the world by some people (because it is the capital of the US, which is, in essence the hub of the world; the same can be said about New York), houses a large number of homeless people. Many of them are well educated but they are unable to find jobs. Many of them are war veterans who served in the Vietnam war and came back to find themselves jobless and homeless. Some are mentally disabled, but unassisted by the government or not acknowledged mentally disabled by their families or society. Shouldn't the US do something to stop this growing problem? Washington DC...

Why do they hate the US of A or is it B (Bush)?

An Iraqi doctor killed 35 Iraqi police and army soldiers because he hates the US. In a taped confession that was broadcast on Kurdish television on Sunday, he told police that he sympathized with the insurgent group Ansar al-Sunna. He said that the group paid him to kill the men and that he did it because "I hate the Americans and what they've done to Iraq." Can you imagine what level of hatred it takes for a person to kill innocent people simply because of his or her hatred towards someone else? It's unfathomable. Why is America hated so much in other parts of the world? Let us look at some of the possibilities. 1. They are an imperialist nation; They have bases set up in different parts of the world to enforce "democracy," even where it is not wanted. 2. Their continued support of Israel's treatment towards the Palestinians; Muslims and christians all over the world are enraged over this one aspect of US foreign policy. Innocent Palestinians {muslims a...

The Case of Abdul Rahman

Who or what gives anybody the right to refuse someone his or her personal beliefs? The answer is nobody and nothing. The case of Abdul Rahman, an Afghan who converted from Islam to Christianity, now facing a death sentence from Afghan Muslim clerics, is a highly debatable issue. But, to me there is only one correct solution. Shouldn't the judgement of a person be left to God or whoever created the universe and everything within it? What gives a simple human being the right to judge anybody? Jesus was believed to have said to the people who wanted to stone a woman for fonication, "He of you who is without sin, cast the first stone." Why did he say this? He knew that the people who were gathered there to stone the woman were guilty of committing some form of sin. This is why we repent and ask God for forgiveness. God is the only one that has the ability and power to cast judgement on a person. Not human beings. I am not implying that we should live without law and order. Bu...

Does Prayer Really Do That?

I read an article in the Washington Post today titled " Researchers Look at Prayer and Healing." I began to wonder, does prayer really have healing powers? My opinion is that it's more a matter of faith than fact. What I mean by that is simple. When one has faith, one will believe that he/she can heal themselves through prayer. And because of their strong conviction, their belief transforms into reality. So, it's really not a proven fact that prayers can heal people. It varies from person to person. It's more a matter of belief. Check out the article on washingtonpost.com and make your own judgement.

Explanation of the Discription

Life is nothing but a phase that we go through or grow out of. I strongly believe that there is more to life than just living and even more afterwards. There are some questions that will always remain unanswered. But WHY is that? Aren’t we in control of our lives? Or is there someone or something controlling us? Sometimes it seems as if we are puppets led by a string. Some people call that fate or destiny. Some people say it’s the will of God. But, do we really believe that? Or do we just accept it because that is what we learned? People try to explain these issues with religion, philosophy, or even conspiracy theories. Some people just won’t adhere to the fact that they are addicted to this life. This is what they want. They are “Materialists”. They are only concerned with the life of “here and now.” There is another group of people that are “Spiritualists”. They are totally consumed with the spiritual world and won’t acknowledge the activities of the “here and now.” Both are two ex...
