Dreams

Dreams of an individual
Can break his soul
If he is unable
To understand them

The words that he hears
The colors that he sees
Are filled with mystery
Because he is unable to perceive

He searches his mind
The unconscious world
There are too many sides
Vast deserts far and wide

Why does he search?
What is the need?
Is it an infatuation?
Or, is it greed?

A glutton for knowledge
Knowledge of the unknown
Knowledge found through dreams
But, with open eyes, soon forgotten

Why is it so?
Shouldn't he see?
The words and sounds
That we never perceive

The Lord says, "No!
Don't look for such things,
For if you see it
You won't be among the living."

He says, "I still want to see,
For I am blind with open eyes,
But I will be awake
Dreaming with my eyes closed."

The Lord allows him to live the dream
Seeing the heavenly colors
Hearing the blissful music
Never having to open his eyes

"Are you satisfied?" asks the Lord
"Yes!" the man answers
"But, please let me sleep."
"Don't cast me out of this eternal Dream."
